The Bottom Line is the combined effort of Ed and Joe Wartts, two brothers from the north side of St. Louis. Born into a musical family, their natural talents were nurtured and compounded by their involvement with the church and their older brother, Andrew, whose album There Is A God Somewhere, recorded in 1982, has become a highly sought after record by producers and gospel-funk collectors alike.

Being more inspired by Prince than the pulpit, however, Ed and Joe were drawn to the sounds emanating from the Minneapolis scene and set their sights on making music for the club rather than the church. During the mid-80’s the pair meticulously laid down the groundwork for what would be their singular studio album, It’s Time, an undeniably potent mixture of advanced synth-funk and hard, digital soul; the perfect party long-player, released in 1987 on their private label Wartts Music Productions Inc.
